About this item

Gothic revival inlaid x-frame oak stool

Our reference: TSP1043

Offered here for sale is a late Victorian x-frame stool in the Gothic revival style. The stool is oak and is inlaid with ebony and boxwood stringing. Each x-stretcher is centred by a carved rose roundel. Two turned stretchers join the x-stretchers together. The seat's corner blocks also feature a rose carving. The seat has been entirely and newly traditionally re-upholstered from frame with hand stitched edges by The Sitting Place. The stool is then covered in Mary Isobel fabric in red and gold by Morris & Co. The fabric perfectly complements the style of the stool since the pattern also displays the rose motif. A quality wide trimming is applied to the stool as a decorative finish to the border. This is a very decorative heavy stool, which is ready to be placed either in a bedroom or a living room setting. Note that colours on screen may differ slightly from the actual colours.
