Victorian carved rosewood salon chair

Our reference: TSP1064

Offered here for sale is a very high quality salon/bedroom chair in solid rosewood and dating to the early to mid Victorian period. This chair boasts very high craftsmanship showing exquisite and fine carving to the shield back. This features an arched crest comprising a central carved shell, which is flanked by flowers and foliage over a roundel of intricate pierced fretwork. Additional carving of flowers is seen on the lower part of the shield back. The shapely seat has a scroll carved front rail, and is raised on flower carved cabriole front legs ending in brass castors, and outswept back legs. The padded back and overstuffed seat have been entirely traditionally re-upholstered from the frame by The Sitting Place® and then finished in stunning quality Lacewing gold velvet fabric by Arley House from the V&A collection. The intricate pattern of the fabric perfectly complements the fretwork of the roundel of the chair crest and the overall sinuous form of the chair. This lovely chair would make a very beautiful addition to a bedroom setting. Note that colours on screen may differ slightly from the actual colours.
