About this item
Art Nouveau inlaid mahogany armchair
Our reference: TSP1060
Offered here for sale is a very decorative and elegant Art Nouveau armchair in mahogany and dating to the Edwardian period (c. 1910). The padded arms are supported by pierced side splats featuring stylised floral motifs inlaid in copper, satinwood and boxwood. The sprung seat is raised on square tapering forelegs ending in brass Cope's castors and outswept back legs also terminating in brass castors. The armchair is traditionally re-upholstered from the frame by The Sitting Place. The chenille type Tiverton fabric by iLiv (sand colour) with colour coordinated trimming and nail detailing beautifully complements this Art Nouveau armchair, which would make a beautiful and comfortable addition to a lounge setting. Note that colours on screen may differ slightly from the actual colours.
Approximate dimensions: H 94cm x W 60cm x D 60cm; Seat height 36cm
Condition: Good original condition, various scuffs commensurate with past use and age, one side splat has minor hairline splitting in two small areas (one repaired, the other too small), which does not undermine the stability of the splat, the other splat has some minor rubbing to the copper (see photos), very tiny old chipped part on lower back seat rail.
