Stunning Edwardian Inlaid Elbow Chair
Our reference: TSP1048
Offered here for sale is an exquisite mahogany elbow chair dating to the Edwardian period. The back features a shaped carved head rail and a splat with elaborate fretwork and scrollwork. The central tablet in the back is decorated with floral motifs in metal inlay, mother of pearl, ivorine, boxwood, yellow wood and heightened in penwork. The chair has string inlay throughout. The seat is serpentine fronted and is raised on leaf capped cabriole forelegs that end in pad feet. The seat is entirely newly traditionally re-upholstered from frame with firm stitched edges by The Sitting Place and then finished in quality damask fabric by Jim Dickens. The sheen and hues of the damask fabric beautifully mirror the lustre of the mother of pearl and metal inlay. This extremely elegant and decorative chair would look very lovely teamed up with a Bonheur du Jour. Note that colours on screen may differ slightly from the actual colours.
