About this item

Arts & Crafts fret-carved piano stool

Our reference: TSP1081

Offered here for sale is a decorative Arts and Crafts / Art Nouveau dark stained (possibly walnut) piano or music stool (dated 1900-1910). The stool has scrolled hand grips and features a Jugendstil-influenced geometric fret-carved frieze detailing to the front and back panels. The hinged upholstered seat lifts up to reveal a useful internal storage compartment beneath. The square-form legs are joined by an H-stretcher base with the central stretcher having pierced oval and rectangular cut-outs. The lidded seat is entirely traditionally re-upholstered from the frame by The Sitting Place® and finished in Brophy embroidered fabric (bayleaf colour scheme) by Morris & co, wide cream trimming and floral decorative space nailing. The geometric pattern of the fabric complements nicely the fretwork of the stool. This practical stool can serve a dual purpose either as a piano stool or as a dressing stool in a bedroom setting (in the latter case would look stunning paired up with Brophy bedding by Morris & co). Note that colours on screen may differ slightly from the actual colours.
