Stamped Tilley Edwardian Marquetry Elbow Chairs
Our
reference: TSP1027A
Offered here for sale is a stunning and very decorative pair of mahogany chairs with open arms in the Queen Anne style and dating to the Edwardian period. One of the chairs is stamped by the maker G. Tilley. The backs feature a solid vase-shaped splat with hooped shoulders, very interesting and intricate marquetry decoration throughout, showing a central figural face with radiating wheat ears or husks, scrolling foliage and flowers. The chairs also have string inlay throughout on the arms, seats, and legs. The seats are raised on simple cabriole forelegs, which end in pad feet. The seats have been fully traditionally re-upholstered from frame by The Sitting Place® and covered in very high quality striped Cuthbert striped fabric in platinum by Jim Dickens. The chairs would look very stylish on either side of a card table, chest of drawers or sideboard in a formal setting. Note that colours on screen may differ slightly from the actual colours.
