Liberty & Co fireside rush seat chair

Offered here for sale is a small beech wood fireside single chair with original woven rush seat. This type of rush chair in the Arts & Crafts manner was retailed by Liberty & co (London) and is dated turn-of-the-century (c. 1900). The chair has a high back with five wavy vertical rails and double classic stretchers to the front and the sides. The seat is low (31cm high) as such a chair was originally intended for sitting low and as close to the fire as possible to keep warm. This collectable chair would add great charm when placed next to a small stove or small fireplace in any setting (with a William Morris or Liberty's type interior décor) or a cottage-style kitchen.

Condition: Good original condition, sturdy with no wobbles, no breakages to the rush seat, which is clean but has some surface wear, scuffs and general wear to the original finish, condition throughout is commensurate with age and past use, no woodworm.
