About this item
Edwardian Art Nouveau metal inlaid armchair
Our
reference: TSP1045
Offered here for sale is a very elegant solid mahogany armchair dating to the Edwardian period (1900-1910). The armchair features a back panel with Art nouveau style inlay of scrolling flowers and foliage in copper, brass, silver and bone, as well as pierced detailing on the sides. The seat is raised on square tapering forelegs and outswept back legs all terminating in brass castors. One of the back legs bears a serial number. The padded back, padded sides and sprung seat are entirely traditionally re-upholstered from the frame by The Sitting Place®. The armchair is then covered in beautiful jacquard Art Nouveau style fabric by Brockhall Designs with a colour scheme that reflects the different colours of the inlay. The armchair would make a stunning addition to a formal sitting room or even a bedroom setting. The armchair bears serial number on rear leg. Since the armchair contains bone inlay (possibly ivory), the item has a submission reference as per Section 10 of the APHA Ivory Act 2018 (Ref: ASXGWXJ6). Note that colours on screen may differ slightly from the actual colours.
