Profusely carved Chippendale Revival elbow chair
Our reference: TSP1051
Offered here for sale is a profusely and finely carved Chippendale Revival elbow chair in the George III style. This large and heavy mahogany chair dates to around 1890/1900. The top rail features carved parchment type scrolls, rocaille carving and foliate carving. The uprights of the back are carved with oak leaves and acorns. The intricately pierced central scrolled splat has tassel carvings, while the outscrolled arms are also carved throughout. The drop-in seat is raised on channelled front square legs with foliate carved angle brackets, and outswept back legs. The drop-in seat has been entirely and newly traditionally re-upholstered from frame by The Sitting Place. The seat is then finished in lovely quality damask type fabric by Jim Dickens. This beautiful chair would, without a doubt, make a stunning addition to an interior décor in the Georgian style. Note that colours on screen may differ slightly from the actual colours.
Approximate dimensions: H 99.5cm x W 68cm x D 53cm; Seat height 44cm
Condition: Good original condition, some scratches/scuffs commensurate with past use and age in particular to the front seat rail and behind the uprights of the chair back, these are only noticeable when they catch the light.
Price: £795 (excluding delivery)
