About this item

Arts & Crafts Oak High Back Armchair

Our reference: TSP1069

Offered here for sale is a very decorative Arts & Crafts high back chair with open arms. This oak chair dates to the early 1900s. The back of the chair features a central upholstered panel, topped with seven vertical pierced curved splats, and then two horizontal waved rails below it. The uprights extend upward and then slightly curve inward. The simple down swept open arms are supported by turned armrests that continue to form the forelegs. Ring carved stretchers link the forelegs to the blocked back legs. One of the blocked back legs is stamped JS. The chair is traditionally re-upholstered from the frame by The Sitting Place®. It is then finished in Daffodil fabric (cove blue and chocolate colour scheme) by Morris & co. The wavy pattern of the fabric and the scrolled trimming beautifully complement the splats and rails of the chair back. This high back chair would make a very decorative addition to an Arts & Crafts or country home interior. Note that colours on screen may differ slightly from the actual colours.
